Containment of the work area during asbestos removal operations is an essential step before proceeding with any action on the job site. Asbestos, a hazardous and carcinogenic material, is highly volatile. Its fibres can disperse very easily and can be inhaled, leading to potentially serious illnesses.
Over the last century, asbestos has been used in many areas for its exceptional characteristics and properties: buildings, industries, equipment, decoration, etc.
Asbestos does not lack qualities: thermal and phonic insulation, it has good mechanical and chemical performances, it also resists to high heat.
However, this fibrous natural mineral material was recognised as dangerous and carcinogenic in 1997. A major public health issue, asbestos is still present today in buildings constructed before that date. Its dangerousness is due to the very fine fibres that make it up and can be inhaled. Exposure to this material can lead to various diseases, even many years later, such as bronchopulmonary cancer.
Several rules govern the handling of this material during renovation work, making it possible to eliminate asbestos while reducing the risks of exposure.
During asbestos removal operations, the working area must be put under negative pressure. This is an essential and indispensable step before starting any work. The vacuum and confinement of the work area prevents any dispersion of asbestos fibers by filtering the contaminated air and reintroducing a flow of clean air.
The ventilation implemented on asbestos removal sites ensures that the asbestos risk zone is at a negative pressure and that the concentration of fibres in suspension in the confined area is minimised. Before starting the work, the estimation of the level of dust in the processes makes it possible to define the measures to be put in place and in particular the characteristics of the negative pressure in the work area, as the air renewal rate may vary. To be effective, air renewal must be constant and stable.
As a safety measure, the quality of the air outside the confined area must be monitored throughout the work phase (before, during and after). This monitoring provides real-time information on air quality and ensures that the pollutant does not escape from the containment.
Asbestos removal is one of the jobs that involves working on sites that are difficult to access. It is therefore essential to use effective solutions to intervene in the best conditions.

The Cyclair 300 Asbestos is part of the specific ventilation equipment to be installed on asbestos removal sites, enabling to ventilate and renew the air in the confined area. The differential pressure device filter the air that flows through it, thus depolluting the contaminated air thanks to a filtering efficiency of more than 99.9%. This very high level of filtration has been developed to respond to the problems of the nuclear sector.
Coated with a decontaminable paint, the Cyclair 300® Asbestos is perfectly suited to the dynamic confinement of asbestos-contaminated areas. It is easily transported using a handle or a strap and can also be carried on the back.
The CYCLAIR® 300 Asbestos is equipped with a 230 V single-phase fan with variable speed drive ensuring an extraction air flow rate of 300 m3/h. The contaminated air is sucked in through flexible ducts (length 3 m) equipped with ZAG connections. A needle manometer continuously measures the filter contamination.
